I did it. I did the full matte ppf and the car looks amazing. I didn't have any experiences prior to this but the step by step videos make it fairly easy to follow along. Eric answered my questions in email within minutes every time. There are a few imperfections but no one would notice unless they really look for it.
Very easy to install , the people in drive protected are amazing , very nice owner and they really take care of their customers. Thank you Eric and the team for the amazing work!
This stuff cleans with a purpose. ALL the purpose. No excuse having dirty stuff anymore when you have this stuff.
The videos made the installation a breeze! The product was easy to work with and the customer service was great!
I couldn't be happier with how my wrap turned out! The training academy started me off with confidence and we're flawless in detail. Definitely begin with the hood to build up confidence.
The front and rear bumbers are the trickiest. So take your time and make sure you have someone helping! All other panels you can knock out on your own however. Any frustrations you may have are easily overlooked by the money you're saving. I did mess up the bumpers the first time, but they sent me replacement pieces with zero hassle. Amazing customer service!
Full body install took me a weekend. Total hours were around 20 but I took my time. I love the wrap and it looks amazing. Like that my Stealth Gray doesn't look like everyone else's now that it's matte. I'll 100% purchase another wrap in the future.
Great product. Doing it yourself for the first time can seem challenging but the academy videos are very helpful and the support is great. I ran into an issue installing the first panel and was able to get help over FaceTime right away. Would recommend to anyone wanting protection at a fraction of the cost.
This is a wonderful product backed by incredible Customer Service! I wish this were a public traded company so that I could make some money :-) seriously, their videos, materials, and personnel are all top shelf!
From start to finish it was so fun to work on and something new because I used to use Viynl but now with PPF it's so much easier and let alone every single panel as a video on how to do it which is such a big help! I really enjoyed with woith it and the staff were so helpful as well
Great product!! Very easy especially with two people. I’d definitely buy again.
Awesome product - looks great on my vehicle. Videos were a great help as well
You’d be a crazy person not to get the insurance. You’re probably gonna mess up in the beginning. Just get the insurance and do it over. After a few panels, you’ll be a pro. Be patient but get insurance.
Customer service was awesome. They made it very easy to install the product and great with communication.
I recently installed the Drive Protected Matte PPF DIY kit on my 2026 Tesla Model Y Performance, and overall I'm very happy with the result. The matte finish gives the car a more aggressive , stealthy look while also adding the paint protection I wanted for long-term ownership.
The kit itself was well thought out for a DIY project. The pre-cut pieces fit the Model Y's body line nicely, and that made the installation process much more manageable than I expected. It still takes patience, attention to detail, and a clean workspace, but the kit made it realistic for someone who want professional looking protection without paying full shop prices.
What I like most is the final appearance. The matte PPF changes the character of the car in a really good way and makes the Tesla stand out without looking overdone. It also gives me peace of mind knowing the paint is better protected from rock chips, scratches, and everyday wear.
If I had to point out a downside, I'd say a DIY install is definitely not for someone who wants a quick project. Some sections require extra care, and you might have a few dust bubbles need to be addressed with a needle or PPF knife to release trapped air or moisture. That said, the assurance package gives peace of mind by including replacement pieces if needed.
Overall, I'd recommend the Drive Protected Matte PPF DIY kit to anyone who wants a strong balance of style, protection, and DIY value for their Tesla Model Y.
Shortly after purchasing, Eric's team reached out to me to confirm some details regarding my purchase, which started the trend of top-notch customer service. The package itself was pretty easy to understand and work through, with Eric being readily available if I had any questions. Overall, I was able to finish my entire installation over a full weekend on my own. You really are provided with everything needed to be successful, from every panel being precut to very detailed videos for every panel to install. I
If you do by chance mess something up, Eric and Team will work with you to help either fix the issue or get replacements as needed.
Will 100% be purchasing again from Drive Protected for my next Tesla and will certainly be recommending it to others.
Great team, great product. I fully recommend Drive Protected.
I just wanted to reach out and share how impressed I was with how easy the PPF installation process was. Everything was straightforward, well-designed, and simple to apply. It made protecting my vehicle completely stress-free.
This is my third Tesla using Drive Protected, and it's been the easiest install by far. Part of that is because the new performance Model Y is just an easier car to PPF, but the install videos are also super easy to follow and understand. I really believe a DIY kit is only as good as the person teaching you how to do it... and Drive Protected does not disappoint.
Here are my three biggest pieces of advice as a beginner:
Install location - This is truly make or break. As long as you have an enclosed space, you can get it done. But I'd go a step further: a temperature and air controlled spot is ideal. Too hot or too cold affects how well the film adheres, and poor airflow can stir up contaminants in the environment that might get trapped under the film. Seriously, a nice spot makes all the difference.
Hot water - For my previous two installs, I just used the hottest water from my faucet (warm, basically), and it worked okay. But I figured out something way better: boiling water! (Don't pour boiling water into the bottle.) Boil some water, transfer it to an insulated tumbler (I used a gallon Yeti), and keep the lid off for a few minutes to let it cool slightly. This turns your tack solution into literal magic in a bottle. The film sticks instantly, making stretching more secure and installs easier on tricky panels, like the rear and front bumpers.
Protection, not perfection - I'm an amateur, and so are you. We are not professionals, but we are still getting the same level of protection they provide. Once you accept that it won't be 100% perfect (in exchange for saving THOUSANDS) your Install experience improves tenfold. I always have to redo at least one panel because of a botched attempt - it's just part of being a DIYer. Thankfully, ordering replacement panels is easy and very affordable. You could buy three full matte kits and still come out cheaper than a professional install.
Highly recommend!
Fantastic looking PPF and excellent quality. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to PPF their vehicle.
Anyone looking for a high quality paint protection film product, look no further!
Defense plus is available in both gloss and matte. This ppf is easy to work and looks fantastic. Custom service is top notch.
