This is my third Tesla using Drive Protected, and it's been the easiest install by far. Part of that is because the new performance Model Y is just an easier car to PPF, but the install videos are also super easy to follow and understand. I really believe a DIY kit is only as good as the person teaching you how to do it... and Drive Protected does not disappoint.
Here are my three biggest pieces of advice as a beginner:
Install location - This is truly make or break. As long as you have an enclosed space, you can get it done. But I'd go a step further: a temperature and air controlled spot is ideal. Too hot or too cold affects how well the film adheres, and poor airflow can stir up contaminants in the environment that might get trapped under the film. Seriously, a nice spot makes all the difference.
Hot water - For my previous two installs, I just used the hottest water from my faucet (warm, basically), and it worked okay. But I figured out something way better: boiling water! (Don't pour boiling water into the bottle.) Boil some water, transfer it to an insulated tumbler (I used a gallon Yeti), and keep the lid off for a few minutes to let it cool slightly. This turns your tack solution into literal magic in a bottle. The film sticks instantly, making stretching more secure and installs easier on tricky panels, like the rear and front bumpers.
Protection, not perfection - I'm an amateur, and so are you. We are not professionals, but we are still getting the same level of protection they provide. Once you accept that it won't be 100% perfect (in exchange for saving THOUSANDS) your Install experience improves tenfold. I always have to redo at least one panel because of a botched attempt - it's just part of being a DIYer. Thankfully, ordering replacement panels is easy and very affordable. You could buy three full matte kits and still come out cheaper than a professional install.
Highly recommend!
Fantastic looking PPF and excellent quality. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to PPF their vehicle.
Anyone looking for a high quality paint protection film product, look no further!
Defense plus is available in both gloss and matte. This ppf is easy to work and looks fantastic. Custom service is top notch.
For the longest time I've wanted a matte vehicle wrap but have found it cost-prohibitive. I was ecstatic to discover Drive Protected's matte kit. I was nervous at first but the videos made installation as easy and straight-forward as possible. As a DIY-er, this was a fun kit to install and watching the project unfold before you is impressive! Caution though, I had to set my perfectionist eye aside because every bubble drove me crazy...until I discovered how easy it is to eliminate bubbles after the install is complete. Needless to say, our Tesla looks striking and I've received so many compliments on it. The best was from a friend who asked which shop I went to for the install and how I got out of there for less than $10K. Thanks for an incredible experience from purchase, training academy, customer service answers, installation, and helping me get another kit for my other car too! You all truly define excellence and quality control and I will not hesitate to recommend you in the future!
I was extremely apprehensive of buying a DIY kit and considered a professional install. However, after watching all the detailed videos from Drive Protected, I decided to give it a shot. Made a few mistakes along the way but it was easy to fix. In the end it ended up working out SO much better than I expected. Great service and customer support from the guys. Highly recommend!
I installed this kit on my 26 Model Y Performance soon after I took delivery and it was the easiest install I’ve done yet! I had previously done this on my Model 3 and old Model Y so I knew I’d have no problem this time around. The front bumper was a little bit intimidating but due to the new glossy black accents, there isn’t as much hassle getting the bumper down. The entire wrap only took me a few days and now my Tesla is protected while having a sweet finish. I’d do this again in a heartbeat!
This product is as described and a worth every penny. I dont think it would have been possible to diy the ppf if it wasn't for the support and staff from drive protected. The instal videos were crucial to doing a successful job. I would highly recommend drive protected.
I ordered the full matte kit for my 2026 Tesla Model S Plaid, all pre-cut pieces come in separate bags to avoid contamination which is great, they included a nice installation kit to prepare and wrap your car, very nice. This is my first ppf application but with the videos they offered, it makes it a lot easier to look like I know what I'm doing!!
Results are 98% perfect, which makes me happy...take your time, and you will be amazed at the final product. Many other people have asked where did I go to ppf my car, they can't believe I did it myself!!! So I show them the kit. I was quoted $15k to do it professionally in California, and they keep the car for one week... others wanted $6500, so you will save a ton!
Customer support is top notch also.
100% recommended!
I just finished installing Drive Protected's Defence+ PPF on my 2026 Tesla Model Y Juniper, and the results are incredible. Eric, the owner and master PPF installer, went above and beyond, providing all the tools and step-by-step training videos specifically for my Juniper. The Defence+ film was easy to install, super durable, and the gloss finish makes my Tesla look amazing. If you want the best DIY paint protection film experience with real support, Drive Protected, and Eric are unbeatable.
The product went onto the car fine. Was easy to follow instructions and cut propertly. Most bubbles have disappeared after being out in the sun. Cleans well, great product.
I ordered the incorrect wrap for my car and when I asked if I could return it while the package was still in transit, they said no and that all sales are final. Shitty company and I will never be buying anything from them again.

I recently ordered their product for the first time and I’m thrilled with my experience! I had no prior knowledge of wrapping, but the team made sure I was well taken care of and answered all my questions. Their customer service is outstanding, quick, helpful, and always ready to assist with any issues. Excellent team and top-quality product!
I love this kit! With the help of the training academy videos, the install went super smooth. Any other questions I had about the kit, the install, or just needed help, Eric was quick to answer. It has been a little over 2 weeks since I installed, and it’s been perfect. No lifting, weird spots, or anything. Truly a good DIY kit. Take your time, utilize the tack solution to pin your starting points, and enjoy your results.
This DIY full PPF project was a lot of hard work but extremely rewarding to complete. To preface, I have never done any sort of PPF before in my life. The only thing close to this that I have learned to do is put on screen protectors and some vinyl stickers.
I set out to purchase this kit from drive protected as I’ve seen TeslaFlex and NicCruzPatane showcase their cars frequently with great results. Matte PPF installation from normal shops start at a minimum of $5000 and can go up to $6000+ depending on coatings. When I saw that this kit was available on sale for $2000, it seemed worth it to try and learn slowly with a timeframe of a week.
I watched all the videos prior to starting and took some notes to remember key details. I was able to do around 2-4 pieces a day with each piece taking about an hour or two including post heating. There were 18 total pieces excluding side mirrors taking about 7 days total to complete with 6-8 hours of labor a day.
It’s seriously a lot of hard work but mainly because this was my first time trying this and I frequently made small errors that ate away time in correcting. In the end, the installation still wasn’t perfect with some contaminants, alignment issues, and heating edges correctly.
However, I am extremely happy with the results and learned that definitely anyone with some determination and time can do this. I’m sure in the future with a second and third attempt this process will become much smoother, faster, and cleaner.
A massive thank you to Eric. He was beyond helpful and superlative with answering any questions throughout the installation. He always responded promptly and was accommodating when things went wrong.
I now feel much more confident to continue doing DIY PPF projects with future cars. I hope they can provide window tint kits in the future to be a one shop stop for passionate and enthusiastic car lovers that want the best for their cars.
Thanks again Eric and hope to try another kit again very soon.
My wife and I have twin Tesla Model 3s. We both wanted a full Matt PPF wrap. I've never done wraps before but watched some videos. I'm pretty detail oriented so I figured I could do it well enough to be happy with. We purchased our Matt wraps from different companies. My wife's car got the Drive Protected kit. And I went with a competitor for my kit. I installed my wife's kit first. If you do the prep right, watch ALL the videos before starting this is very DIY doable! My wifes car with the drive protected kit looks incredible. I don't think I will ever pay for PPF again in my life!
My car was another story. I purchased it from a different company that I'm not going to name. Same Full Matt kit. The cutouts for the kit were very large. On my drive protected kit I can hardly tell around the front fender camera that is a pre-cut kit. This other company's kit the cut out around the camera after being installed was over 1/4" larger than the camera. On a Matt kit this was very noticeable! Same thing with the door handles. I installed one of the doors and had over an eighth of an inch of gloss paint showing all around the door handle opening. You could see this from 10 ft away from the car. On a pre-cut kit I don't think anything is more important than the cutouts. Especially if you're doing matt because it's going to show dramatically compared to the factory paint. The cutouts on the rear door were so bad that on one top edge the wrap stopped about 1/4" from the window trim. And there was no way to stretch it in that area.
I took that wrap off, called drive protected and ordered another kit from them. I did not realized that the cutouts were going to be so different. I wasted a lot of time and money on that other company. From now on I'll only be picking drive protected for my wraps.
Great product and quality. Fast shipping. Eric and the team were very responsive and helpful!
Amazing all around!
The install went really well! The videos were very helpful and guided me through the whole process. I would definitely recommend for a more affordable option for protecting your vehicle!
Thank you for the great review, Caitlan! Your support of Drive Protected means the world to us!
PS don’t heat gun the ppf just in general to dry it out faster for no reason like i did on the front bumper. it’s little yellowish now and everything else is white. only do the corners/edges, little bit…don’t go crazy, not the whole main piece, and not to much, lol. but if you’re dumb they offer a free replacement panel, these guys are great. all the other panels look amazing. can’t tell it’s there.
make sure you do the videos and learn and don’t skip steps, thats where most get in trouble he said when on phone with him. (takes 3 days for full body install, but it’s sooo nice and you won’t get scratches now…and it self heals on small ones. i’m so happy with Drive Protected.)
i will be doing all my future vehicles with Drive Protected. now that i’ve done one, the next one will be so much easier and better.
Thank you so much for the review, Blake! Your support means the world to us here at Drive Protected!
The ppf pieces were cut accurately and were easy to install. Nothing more needs to be said.
Thank you so much for your review, Mark!
The PPF as provided seems to be a good product and pieces as cut are accurate. The biggest challenges are where pieces need to be stretched and making sure corners are completely tacked before stretching. If not completely tacked they will slide during stretching. The product presents a good value compared to paying a professional to install.
Mark, Thank you so much for your review! Congrats on successfully protecting your Model Y. Your support of Drive Protected means the world to us!
Wouldn’t stick no matter how much tack I put on it. Would not recommend
Eric and his team went above and beyond to make sure my install went smoothly. Right after I placed my order for the full Model 3 Performance PPF kit, I got a text message from an actual human, and I was able to chat with them and have answers in real time - this is really unheard of nowadays! The team is also available to answer your questions via email and telephone. This was my 2nd DIY PPF job, and I watched countless hours worth of videos to make sure the install went well. My previous car was a 2023 Model 3 Performance, so the pre-cut pieces were cut differently as Tesla made several updates to the body lines. I can't tell you how thankful I am that Eric was able to provide me with several replacement pieces when I unsuccessfully wrapped my front bumper, and a few other body panels, no questions asked. He was extremely fast to respond, and cut new pieces and shipped them to me within a day. After re-watching the videos on the training academy, I quickly learned where I went wrong, and was able to complete the install on various panels that I had previously failed on. It is extremely important to listen to Eric and his team when they suggest to watch the videos on the training academy. It will eliminate frustration and show you step by step how to complete your install job and make it look just like you paid someone else $7,000 to complete. In addition to exemplary customer service and attention, I emailed Eric and asked him if he could cut me a few extra pieces, so I had spares for my rocker panels, as well as a new piece that was a result of my own mistake when re-installing my rear Ludicrous emblem. Once again, no problem, and the pieces arrived within a few days! Customer for life here - I can't tell you how awesome Eric and team were. Thanks again for everything you do!
Joe, Thank you so much for the glowing review! Your support means the world to us at Drive Protected!
Eric at Drive Protected was very knowledgeable. He was able to answer all my questions promptly. The full matte ppf finish looks great on my car. It was so easy to install with all the training videos provided by Drive Protected. You can never go wrong with your purchase. I highly recommend Drive Protected if you want to protect your car and change the way it looks.
Jonathan, thank you so much for your review! Your support of Drive Protected is greatly appreciated!
I can’t mention enough how amazing this wrap is.
Ease of installation:
Wrapping it is way easier than you think. Why?
There are TONS of instructional videos in a step-by-step process to help you throughout the whole installation. Eric is also an incredible businessman and takes his time to give you some advice whenever needed. I throughly enjoyed the process. If you mistakenly mess up one panel, Drive Protected will send you a replacement film for free, you just have to pay the shipping.
The Wrap itself:
I went with the Matte PPF option to not only provide excellent production, but also a whole new look for my Model 3 Performance. My god does it ever look amazing! Completely transformed the look of my car. The wrap also has great hydrophobic effects, and basically feels like your car is ceramic coated afterwards. ITS SO EASY TO CLEAN. I love the peace of mind of knowing I’m protected, something I never experienced in the past.
I highly recommend Drive Protected and their DIY kits.
Thank you for the review, Nic! Your support of Drive Protected is very appreciated!
This matte PPF is the best way to make your Tesla stand out while also protecting the paint! It was one of the easiest DIY wraps I have done. This only took me a few days to complete with the help of the instructional videos. I would definitely do this again!
Thank you for your support, Brandon!
