The 2026 Tesla Model Y looks good from the factory, but when wrapped in Defense+ matte paint protection film, it becomes something else entirely. In this project, we transformed Tesla’s free Stealth Gray color into a deep, matte finish that looks aggressive, clean, and premium, while adding serious protection.
This install was completed in Manitoba, Canada, in the middle of winter, with the vehicle arriving filthy from road grime. Underneath the dirt was the perfect base for a full matte PPF transformation
Full Vehicle matte PPF Installation
This wasn’t a basic install. To achieve a near-seamless finish, we went deep into the teardown.
- Side cameras removed
- Fender flares removed
- Tail lights removed
-Exterior trim removed
- Window Trims and mirrors removed
By removing these components, we were able to wrap deeper edges and hide seams wherever possible, giving the car a much cleaner, more factory-like result.
The entire vehicle was wrapped using Defense+ Matte Paint Protection Film, designed to:
- Protect against rock chips and road debris
- Resist staining and discoloration
- Maintain a smooth, consistent matte finish
Why Stealth Gray Looks Better in Matte.
Tesla’s Stealth Gray is a free factory color, but when converted to matte, it takes on a completely different personality. The finish gives the Model Y a darker, more stealthy appearance that almost resembles satin black in certain lighting—especially on the rear hatch and body lines.
If you want maximum visual impact without repainting your vehicle, matte PPF is one of the best upgrades you can make.
Owner Reaction, Better Then Expected!
When the owner returned to pick up the car, the reaction said it all. The transformation exceeded expectations and made the vehicle feel brand new again.
Matte PPF doesn’t just protect, it completely changes how the car feels and looks, especially on modern Tesla body lines.
Matte PPF Care & Maintenance Tips
Because matte paint protection film is thicker and more complex than gloss film, a few care tips are important:
- Avoid aggressive pressure washing near edges and seams
- Always spray pressure washers straight-on, not at an angle
- Use microfiber towels and all-purpose cleaner for stubborn dirt
- Wait 7–14 days before the first wash
This vehicle was also ceramic coated, making maintenance even easier while preserving the matte finish.
Final Results
The 2026 Tesla Model Y wrapped in Defense+ Matte PPF delivers both protection and an unmistakable stealth look. For Tesla owners looking to elevate the appearance of their vehicle while keeping factory paint protected, this is one of the most effective upgrades available.
